Québec is big and we want it to be green. We also want to be able to travel around the province without feeling guilty. Many of us believe that electricity is the solution. We want electric vehicles to no longer be a luxury, and for all the buses and trucks on our roads to run on clean energy. We even dream about taking boat shuttles up and down the St. Lawrence, especially if they are electric.

Quebecers’ priorities for sustainable mobility:

Developing a public transit network to travel to Percé or Tremblant more quickly? That would be great. Although, if they had the choice, many people would rather get there using an electric car. To make our trips easier, we’d like more ultra-fast charging stations along highways 132 and 15 (as well as all other highways in Québec!) so we could drive anywhere and make spontaneous stops to take in the views, from Kamouraska to Val-David.

What Quebecers would like to prioritize to accelerate sustainable mobility:

Many of us want to do better. Like taking the train instead of the car to vacation in Charlevoix or opting for businesses that use electric trucks for deliveries—these are the types of resolutions we can get behind!

We’re willing to make immediate changes to our habits, but we also want to focus on research and develop new technologies such as biofuels and better ways to store energy. A mission for Hydro-Québec.

If we had a more extensive and accessible public transit network, we would be willing to leave our car at home whenever possible! Maybe the future of mobility depends on public transit. That’s what the countless ideas we received on this topic would suggest. Many Quebecers dream of a network of trains and buses that would connect the province’s cities and towns, so that they could travel quickly and inexpensively to visit family and friends outside major centers.
